NEW MEXICO STATE MEET

Yvonne Stinson Powers Alamogordo To 5A Girls Title; Evan Wysong Helps Cleveland Boys To 5A Win; Los Alamos Girls Win Every 4A Track Final On Way To 165 Points

Alamogordo sprinter Yvonne Stinson won the 100-meter dash in 11.97 seconds and also won the 200 in  25.17, plus anchored the Tigers' winning 4x100 to a time of 49.20 last weekend at the New Mexico state track and field championships. 

Alamogordo won the Class 5A girls team championship with 66 points. 

Sima Lucero from La Cueva won both hurdles events, going 14.93 to win the 100 hurdles and 44.56 to win the 300 hurdles. 

Sterling Glenn from Rio Rancho won both the shot put (44-4) and discus (131-4). 

In one of the best races of the meet, freshman Gabrielle Foggie from Clovis edged senior Analisa Ibarra of La Cueva, 58.33 to 58.37 in the 400 meters final.

Leah Futey from Cleveland won the 1,600 meters (5:09.64) and also the 3,200 (11:00.15). She was also on the fourth-place 4x800 relay. 

Cleveland's 5A boys team win was built on high placement in all of the relays, including wins in the 4x400 and Sprint Medley.

Evan Wysong won the 200 meters (21.93), took third in the 100, fifth in the long jump and was part of the 4x100 (second) and 4x200 (third) relays.

Sophomore Stratton Shufelt won the shot put (52-1.50) and was fourth in the discus. Teammate Dominic Vasquez won the javelin (164-1). 

Kayden Gonzalez from Farmington jumped 47-0.25 in the triple jump. 

Bahozhoni Church of Albuquerque won a tight race against Sandia's Steven West to win the 1,600 in 4:17.55 and also won the 3,200 in 9:24.69. 

Los Alamos dominated the Class 4A meet and swept the team titles. 

In the girls meet, Los Alamos runners won every race on the track, an astounding achievement, on the way to 165 team points.

Anna Wetteland won the 400 meters in 58.50. Nyla Lee swept the 100 and 200. Delaney Ulrich won the 800 and 3,200. And Emma Montoya won the 1,600. 

Angelina Passalacqua won both hurdles races. 

The Los Alamos boys also piled up big points, espeicially in the 3,200 meters where the team placed five runners between second and sixth places. 

Hope Christian's Rendon Kuykendall ran 4:18.65 to win the 1,600 meters and 9:29.61 to win the 3,200. 

Joaquin Deprez from Albuquerque Academy won the 800 in 1:55.62.
