Owens Sweeps Hurdles, Runs Meet Record 13.69

Ayden Owens of North Allegheny clocked a Pennsylvania PIAA state meet record 13.69 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles on Saturday in Shippensburg.

Owens, who is headed to USC in the fall, also won the 300 hurdles in 36.68 seconds. His team tied Bishop Shanahan with 32 points for the Class AAA team title.

Star sprinter Austin Kratz of Dock Mennonite sped to Class AA titles in the 100 meters (10.57), 200 (meet record 21.30) and 4x100 relay (meet record 41.75), and he also placed second in the long jump with 22 feet, 8 inches.

Also in Class AA, Ethan Dabbs of Richland pulled out a narrow victory in the javelin with 217-6 over Noah Drudy of Hopewell (215-0) in one of the best competitions in the country. Dabbs and Drudy now ranked third and fourth, nationally.

Skylar Ciccolini of Mifflin County threw 167-4 for a AAA victory in the girls javelin.

Christina Warren of Perkiomen Valley had a sensational meet, winning the AAA 100-meter hurdles in 13.71 and also winning the triple jump with 40-11.25.

Hunter Robinson powered Avonworth/Northgate to the AAA team title with her victories in the 200 meters (23.98) and 400 meters (54.10).

Payden Montana of Berwick Area dominated the AAA shot put and discus events. She threw 51-0 for the shot put title and 154-8 to claim the discus crown.

Thelma Davies of Girard College doubled 11.82 and 24.05 for wins in the AA girls sprints.

Esther Seeland of State College Area won the AAA girls 800 meters in 2:09.69.

Freshman Melissa Riggins from Shady Side swept mid-distance AA titles in the 800 (2:16.38) and the 1,600 (4:52.33).

In the AAA distance races, Taryn Parks of Greencastle won the 1,600 meters in 4:46.09 and Marlee Starliper of Northern won the 3,200 meters in 10:25.28. Katie Dammer of Abington Heights ran a strong double and was second in both races.

Rusty Kujdych of Neshaminy won the AAA boys 3,200 in 9:04.98.

Madison Langley-Walker of Upper Dublin won the AAA girls 300 hurdles in 41.94 seconds and Sydni Townsend of Neumann-Goretti won the AA race in meet record 41.60.

Mackenzie Horn of Manheim Township won the AAA girls pole vault with a clearance at 13-3 for a new meet record.

Taylor Givens from State College won the AAA girls long jump with 19-9, edging out sophomore Casey Burton of North Allegheny (19-6).

Zach Gehm of Seneca Valley won the AAA boys discus with a big throw of 194-8.

The Cheltenham girls ran 46.80 to win the AAA 4x100 relay and Coatesville ran 3:46.91 for the 4x400 championship. In Class AA, Neumann-Goretti won both relays, with 47.65 and 3:49.78.

Joe Jardine from Schuykill Valley won Class AA titles in both the pole vault (16-3) and the long jump (23-0.25).

Breana Gambrell of Athens Area won the Class AA long jump with 19-11 for a new meet record. She also won the triple jump with 38-3.25. She also placed second in the 100 meters in 12.15.
